Crystal Divination Although scrying, or crystal ball gazing has been a source of fascination for thousands of years, there are other ways in which crystals can be used to divine the meaning of current and possible future trends. Associating the shape and colour of each crystal with psychological drives can help to unravel the secrets of the psyche as well as examine future possibilities. It is actually possible to divine with crystals knowing very little about them, but obviously with deeper knowledge - their folklore, science and astrological associations - the reading is likely to be enhanced.. Perhaps the link between crystals, terrestrial life and astrology may not seem obvious at first, except of course when we consider that the planets and the Earth are linked chemically. The Earth's mantle is a rich atomic soup that eventually chrysalises in the many mineral forms that serve the human race in science, healing, adornment and of course, divination. The link between the planets, stars and mankind is demonstrated by the Earth's equator which inclines 23 1/2 degrees towards the Sun as the Earth orbits around the solar disc; this reflects the angle of the human heart's inclination of 23 1/2 degrees towards the left side of the body. In astrology, the heart is ruled by the Sun. Astrology is a symbolic language, and when we examine the Sun in the horoscope we endeavour to judge or divine the purpose of the present incarnation and its strength or weakness to carryout that purpose. There are a number of crystals traditionally associated with the Sun like Ruby, Sunstone, Peridot and especially the Diamond which disperses the seven colours of the visible spectrum, which emanates from the Sun. We can form layouts with crystals that represent our individual Sun sign, as see how at any one time, we are progressing with our current incarnation and how best to tackle any problems. But it must be stressed that this is not a course about astrology, it does not intend to make participates into astrologers, but it will demonstrate how one can use some astrological ideas within the realm of crystal divination. We will also examine the truth about 'birthsigns' and what they really mean. There is no need to have prior knowledge of astrology. Colour will also be examined in connection with crystals, as well as their various shades. We shall see why red - one end of the colour spectrum - corresponds with physical and mental energy, whilst violet at the other end of the spectrum, is associated with the spirit. Violet light of course vibrates more rapidly with shorter wavelengths. This indicates a finer, more subtle realm of being. Whilst red vibrating more slowly is connected to dense, physical life. The keywords for the colours in-between are: orange for confidence, yellow for the intellect, green for balance, blue for calmness and indigo for intuition. The scientific basis to crystals will involve examination of how they are formed in the earth, their chemical families, hardness and crystal systems. It is indeed important to have at least some scientific knowledge of crystals since quite often their folkloric associations have grown up around their basic chemical make-up. For instance, Diamond known as 'Adamant' in Greek refers to its hardness - the hardest substance known to man - and that quality has associated this beautiful stone with perseverance, persistence and invincibility! The other end of the spectrum (to coin a phrase) are the crystals' names. Nothing happens by accident is a spiritual tenent, so the crystals' names will also point to ideas about divination. The light blue Celestite for instance, was named after the blue of the celestial sky, which ostensibly we could divine its appearance in a crystal spread as showing spiritual help or peace after a storm. However, if we also know that Celestite contains the chemical strontium - used as a bright red flare to signal help at sea - we know that the outward gentle appearance of the crystal masks an inner power. Much has been written about the development of clairvoyant powers with the use of crystals. Rock Crystal is usually the favourite in this regard. Nostradamus, the famous French seer, was supposed to have used Tourmalinated Quartz to aid his prophesies. This ability lies within us all. Though of course, we may not all reach the dizzy heights of Nostradamus. What is interesting, as I have found in personal experience, is that the people we 'see' around a client or friend, for whom we may be divining, may or may not be in the spirit world. Nevertheless, their appearance often indicates a 'message' of one kind or another. We will discover how we can interpret the 'message'. There is no doubt a great deal to learn about each crystal, but no one can link into all the information at any one time. We learn as we go, but even with a little information, and allowing the imagination to flourish (vital!), much can be gleaned from divination by crystals. But maybe what is most important to remember is that crystals are only a tool, albeit a powerful one, to help us develop the latent power of 'seeing' within us. We are learning to divine for ourselves and other people, to help ourselves and others on their way both spiritually and in the mundane world. We are not using crystals as a tool for power or self-aggrandisement. We won't be taught how to wave a magic wand and ensnare the object of our desire. But we will be able to glean greater understanding of prevailing trends, work with helpful messages and make more informed decisions for ourselves and our clients, which may lead to a happier future.
